A porcelain mug with a gently narrowed mouth, crafted by KUTANI CHOEMON, a renowned Kutani ware kiln representing Ishikawa Prefecture’s traditional craftsmanship. At first glance, it appears simple, yet on the inner back surface, a delicate illustration of a Japanese woman bathing — titled “Yuami” — is revealed when the mug is lifted to your lips.
This playful and thoughtful design reflects the changing meaning of “connection” in our times — a piece that invites sharing and quiet conversation. The form, known as “Efu-go,” takes its name from the pouch once used by falconers in the Edo period to carry food for their hawks, and later, for tea utensils shaped in a similar way. Comes in a paper gift box.
