A poetic name for this traditional vessel, the chakai was originally developed in China, the homeland of tea. When tea is poured directly into cups from a teapot, the first and last pours may differ in strength. By transferring the tea once into a chakai, the flavor and temperature are evenly balanced before serving. It can also be used as a yuzamashi (water cooler) to adjust the temperature of boiling water before pouring it into the teapot.

EN TEA proposes a modern way to enjoy tea using this chakai — steeping a tea bag directly in the vessel and pouring it gently into a cup for a smooth, refined experience.
